I love the imagery that the term humble warrior evokes for me. There’s something very pure and honourable about it. Like a knight placing his sword down and genuflecting at the feet of his or her queen.
The pose humble warrior is a version of the warrior poses where your upper body comes low, typically with the head below the heart in a symbolic gesture of being led by the heart. Arms can take a variety of positions from clasped hands, holding opposite elbows or in a prayer. In the video below I’m showing a version using a pilates ring to ensure wide open chest and shoulders, as well as heart.
If taking the poses, be sure to plant both feet firmly and stay strong in the legs to make a great foundation. Use your core muscles when taking movement and holding. And of course, take it only as far as feels comfortable for you.
